‘The drawing made on a wall in one of the rooms
of the Fort Benoorden Spaarndam,
probably made by a German soldier or prisoner in that fort during
WWII.
Fort Benoorden Spaarndam is part of the Defenceline of
Amsterdam.
I was there in September 2006 during a guided tour. A couple of
weeks
before that tour they started with restoration works in that fort
and
our group was one of the first outsiders that saw that drawing. We
came
in that completely dark room and when the candlelight touched
that
wall I promptly called: "Marlene Dietrich" !
The wall with the drawing was painted white after the war, but
after
cleaning they discovered it’. -Jan Brilleman.
